PIYUMINI HEWAGE IS SPENDING A NIGHT IN THE CELLS
I’m taking part in the Night in the Cells charity event to help raise funds for two incredible causes that do amazing work in our communities, especially supporting those affected by dementia.
This cause is very close to my heart. My grandmother has lived with dementia for a long time, and my lovely mum also suffered from brain cancer, which sadly led to dementia. Watching both of them go through this, and seeing how it affected my whole family, has been incredibly tough. My mum was only with us for a short time after her diagnosis, and I’m doing this fundraiser in honour of both her and my grandmother.
Now for the fun part… this will be my first time “getting arrested” (don’t worry, it’s all for a good cause ). I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nerves, but I know it’s going to be an unforgettable experience. Who knew I’d choose to spend a night in a cell?! I’m also weirdly curious (and slightly concerned) about the prison food… wish me luck!
