LORD MAYOR OF CARDIFF 2025/26

Last month, Adrian and Jayne were delighted to be invited for a tour of Care UK Llys Cyncoed care home in Cardiff and to meet resident Vivien Burgess who had previously invited us to an art exhibition she was staging at the home to raise funds for three charities. Her artwork, painted over many years was sublime - particularly the flowers and other flora she had captured!

Adrian and Jayne thoroughly enjoyed attending the press night of the Sleeping Beauty pantomime at New Theatre Cardiff . The performance was excellent and the reviews were brilliant. It was a pleasure to meet Gethin Jones after the show.

Adrian enjoyed a wonderful concert at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama - Coleg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru ) in aid of City Hospice . Congratulations to everyone involved in organising the event. Adrian and Jayne also enjoyed looking around the Light Trail in Bute Park.

One of Adrian's December highlights was the "Under the Christmas Lights" which was organised by Jayne Cowan , held at Llandaff Cathedral . It was in aid of Adrian's two nominated charities Cardiff Dogs Home, The Rescue Hotel  & Forget-me-not Chorus  whose Cardiff choir was the first act. We had tremendous singing from Llysfaen Primary School Choir, Sean Evans and Choirs for Good, whilst there was incredible dancing from the Rekha Natya Academy and the Debbie Chapman Dancers.

Adrian and Jayne enjoyed a good reception in the undercroft at Cardiff Castle to mark 70 years of Cardiff being a capital city. It was organised by FOR Cardiff who presented the results of their survey about how Cardiff is viewed by people/businesses - and views about its future. It was great to also have the original petition documents prepared by the Corporation of Cardiff, petitioning King George VI, for the city to have capital status. These had been brought from Llyfrgel

Wow. Down to the last kick! What an ending. Great atmosphere at Principality Stadium  which build to such a crescendo during those tense last few minutes (and even louder as the roof was closed).

A massive thank you to the Pantmawr Residents Association and The Pantmawr Inn who have raised £200 for my two nominated charities Cardiff Dogs Home, The Rescue Hotel  and the Forget-me-not Chorus . Adrian and Jayne were invited to the Royal College of Nursing dinner. What an incredible atmosphere. It was wonderful to see the amazing contribution nurses give to the patients in their care. Such an inspiring event.

Adrian was delighted to be at the Cardiff Met graduation ceremony (as their Honorary President), which was held at Wales Millennium Centre - Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru . Many congratulations to all those from the School of Management who got their awards!

Adrian would like to thank Joel Williams  and his parents for kindly opening up their home and hosting a fundraiser in aid of the two nominated charities. A great morning (lots of cake and an epic raffle selection) which all raised a wonderful £800.00!

It was an honour for Adrian and Jayne to be at the 21 gun salute earlier today, held in #Cardiff  Bay to mark HM King Charles III Birthday. Despite the wet weather, they were pleased to talk to those who were firing gun number one ahead the salute beginning. For some this was their last salute (having done over 100), others were only on their second or third salute.

The Lady Mayoress organised a Night in the Cells fundraiser, using the old cells at Roath Police station which raised funds and awareness for The Forget Me Not Chorus and The Rescue Hotel for Dogs. Thank you so much to all the inmates, including Supt Martyn Stone, who agreed to spend the night locked up! Here's a few photos from the Poppies to Paddington visit this morning at Cardiff Central. The "Poppies to Paddington" 2025 event took place on the 11th November as an annual Remembrance Service at Paddington Station. This is a national event that honours the role of railways and their personnel in wartime, originally starting in 2020. In 2025, this was expanded, and Queen Camilla attended.

Adrian and Jayne have enjoyed wonderful Diwali celebrations recently at the Hindu Community Centre and also the Wales Diwali reception at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama - Coleg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru . Earlier this month, Adrian was pleased to open the Cardiff Model Railway Exhibition , now in its 37th year. It's always great to see the fabulous layouts at the show and he is already looking forward to next year's show.
