On May 22nd 2025, Councillor Adrian Robson was officially inaugurated as the Lord Mayor of Cardiff during a ceremony at County Hall.
Representing the Rhiwbina ward since 2004, Cllr Robson brings over two decades of dedicated public service to his new role. His wife, Councillor Jayne Cowan, Cardiff’s longest serving female sitting councillor since 1999, will serve as the Lady Mayoress.
They are the first Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress in over 40 years to both be serving councillors.
The Lord Mayor has selected two local charities to support during his term: the Forget-Me-Not Chorus and The Rescue Hotel.
Founded in Rhiwbina, the Forget-Me-Not Chorus offers joy-filled singing sessions for individuals living with dementia, as well as their families, friends and professional caregivers. These sessions aim to provide connection, friendship, and joy through song, helping to build a more Dementia Friendly Cardiff.
The Rescue Hotel is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to supporting the dogs at Cardiff Dogs Home. It works to improve the lives of rescue dogs by providing essential care, funding vital resources and ensuring they have the best possible chance of finding loving forever homes.
Throughout his mayoral year, Councillor Robson, alongside Lady Mayoress Councillor Cowan, plans to host a series of fundraising events to benefit the charities. Planned activities include sponsored charity walks, raffles, BBQs, quizzes, a musical concert, coffee mornings, afternoon teas and a Gala Ball.
